Dr. Chika C. Daniels, PhD., MRAIC, NOMA, RIBA has built an illustrious cross-sector career spanning nearly two

decades in architecture, investment management, private equity, business advisory,

project management, and community development.

Chika holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Architecture, with

specializations in Architecture and Planning, respectively. Her Doctorate is in Housing

and Public Policy. She is a member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, the

Royal Institute of British Architects, and the National Organization of Minority Architects.

As a passionate academic, Chika teaches at two of Canada’s leading institutions: the

University of Calgary and Athabasca University. She has authored several papers in

peer-reviewed journals and proceedings, and her expertise has led to invitations to

numerous international conferences on architectural design, innovation, and housing

policy.

Beyond academia, Chika is a recognized entrepreneur, innovator, and community

leader. Her entrepreneurial acumen and advocacy work have earned her numerous

awards and accolades. Most recently, in 2022 and 2023, she was the runner-up for the

Calgary Black Chambers Achievement Award in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, a 2023

nominee for Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women, and Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40

nominee, and a 2024 nominee for Immigrant of Distinction award. In December 2023,

she received one of only four special recognition awards for exceptional community

service from OFM Communities, a global charitable organization active in over 60

countries.

Chika co-pastors a local church in Calgary and is the president of WTAL Canada. As

the president of WTAL, Chika leads initiatives advancing equity for women by

addressing systemic barriers that impede their progress. She is also the founder of The

Chika Daniels Foundation, which supports causes related to poverty alleviation, access

to education, and gender equity. Through the foundation, scholarships are also

awarded, including the Chika C. Daniels Young Leader Award and the Chika C. Daniels

NextGen Designer Award at the University of Calgary. 

In 2023, she joined the Government of Alberta’s Office of the Premier as Outreach

Manager. Additionally, she serves on multiple boards and committees across charitable,

nonprofit, and private-for-profit organizations. Driven by a relentless hunger to create

tangible change, Chika channels her efforts into educating, empowering, and supporting

women while uplifting her community.
